The Multi I/O section of the DJM-A9 has an independent channel selector that lets you use external effects separately from the Beat FX, giving the mixer true send capabilities. You can route the affected sound from an external unit such as an RMX-1000 or a delay pedal to a separate channel instead of the channel it originated from. Beat Jump can be operated using the newly added hardware buttons, and Key Sync enables harmonic mixing. Additionally, the 8-Beat Loop button expands the range of available loops beyond the classic 4-Beat control.
